Short Review of ‘Less Than Evil’ (나쁜형사)

Written by Dyami Millarson

Less Than Evil (original title: 나쁜형사), which is a Korean drama, belongs to the detective fiction genre. Less Than Evil is about Woo Tae Seok (은선재), a detective who, as the title suggests, borders on evil. The main protagonist is a morally ambiguous character, which makes him interesting throughout the drama. Discretion may be advised, since it is a very graphic drama and I have never seen such realistic murder scenes as in this drama. The most shocking scene to me was the murder of the protagonist’s wife. This scene nearly made me quit watching the drama altogether. However, I decided it was worth knowing how the plot would develop from that point on. Indeed, the drama did not disappoint and I have been on the edge of my seat throughout all episodes. The dynamic between the protagonist and various characters, such as Chief Chun Man Jeon (전춘만) and Eun Seon Jae (은선재), is truly breath-taking and superbly acted.
