Quid est kefir?

Nōmen masculīnum kefir (Russicē: кефир, Georgicē: კეფირი, Karaczaëvo-Balcaricē: gǝрǝ) lacticīnium ē lactis fermentātiōne bactēriālī dēfīnītur, quod ē Caucasiā septentriōnālī, praecipue Caucasicae montis Elbrī regiōne, ortum est, ubi kefir lacte ovium caprārumque boumque factus est. Verbum kefir ē Caucasicā Septentriōnālī dērivātum sit. Kefir ē Caucasiā Septentriōnālī ad Russiam aliāsque natiōnēs Eurōpaeās ōrientālēs advēnit, et adhūc cum Ūniō Sovietica dissolūta fuit, ex Eurōpā ōrientālī ad Eurōpam Americamque occidentālem advēnit. Cum kefir iogurtō adque aliīs lacticīniīs fermentātīs dissimilis sit, kefirī compositiō ex ūnicōrum bactēriōrum fungōrumque constat.
