First Bargum Frisian Dictionary in the English Language

Written by Dyami Millarson

Today is New Year’s Day. I want to make a fresh new start by publishing the dictionary of the Bargum Frisian language; this is my way of celebrating New Year’s Day.

The dictionary of the Bargum Frisian language will be freely available to all. You can access it here on our cloud-based library. Please have a look and see the project for yourself.

The Bargum Frisian dictionary which I am publishing on New Year’s Day is the first of its kind in the English language. Speakers of English previously had no access to Bargum Frisian, which is closely related to Langenhorn Frisian and Ockholm Frisian.

The Bargum Frisian dictionary is part of a series of works started in 2022 which commemorate the 200th birthday of Moritz Momme Nissen.

Although the dictionary is being published today, please keep in mind that it is a work in progress. It is only an early stage of the project. There is still a lot to do. However, I choose to publish it since I consider it of the highest priority that people already have access to Bargum Frisian.

Please share our work with everyone you know so that we can reach a wide audience. Thank you for supporting us and Happy New Year!
